Through research and use, I’ve discovered what I think are the 10 best oracle decks for spiritual growth and healing.

When I began my spiritual journey years ago, a friend of mine had an Oracle Deck and did a reading for me. Ever since then I’ve been hooked on Oracle Cards and use them daily.

What is an Oracle Deck?

We’ll start with the definition of oracle as I wasn’t clear on what it meant when I first became interested in Oracle Decks of cards.

Definition of Oracle

The definition of Oracle according to Wikipedia is a person or agency considered to provide wise and insightful counsel or prophetic predictions, most notably including precognition of the future, inspired by deities. As such, it is a form of divination.

An Oracle Deck is a set of cards used as a divination tool to seek guidance and connect to other dimensions. Examples of other dimensions would be spirit guides, angels/archangels, or ancestors.

Some may use the oracle cards to connect to their higher self or intuition. Others may use the cards as a self awareness tool.

Because your thoughts and beliefs create your future, the cards are generally used to provide insight into the direction of relationships, finances, career, health, and other areas.

You can use the cards to either give yourself readings or others. You may be wondering what the difference is between Tarot cards and Oracle cards. I’ll explain the difference between each one below.

Difference Between Oracle Cards and Tarot Cards

With an oracle deck, each deck is unique. The cards and meanings are chosen by the creator. So, this means each deck can use a different system to transfer wisdom or insight through the cards. In addition, each deck can have an entirely different focus.

Some oracle decks use goddesses and/or angels to guide you. Others may consist of earthy dimensions using the wisdom of nature and/or spirit animals.

Tarot cards on the other hand always consist of 78 cards. The meanings of the cards tell a story through the Major Arcana (spiritual matters) and Minor Arcana (love, career ambitions, business matters, conflict, material/money matters).

The Tarot system has been around for hundreds of years. While you may see many different tarot decks, the general meaning of the cards always remain the same.

Once you learn the tarot system, it can be transferred from deck to deck.

How to Choose the Best Oracle Deck

Choosing an Oracle Deck really depends on what resonates within you. Here are some questions to ask yourself which will help you determine which Oracle cards work for you. You may find yourself purchasing many decks over time.

• Are you wanting to use the cards to seek knowledge of the future? Or are you looking for a way to build self awareness? You may be looking for several different things. Reading the card creator’s intentions is a great way to see if it’s the right oracle deck for you.
• If you’re like me, I love the beautiful illustrations on each card. If they are visually appealing to me, I’m usually drawn to them.
• Using your intuition is also important in choosing which deck is right for you.
• The quality of the cards is important to me. I want the cards to last and be able to hold them in my hand comfortably as well as shuffle them easily.
• I also prefer a guide book to be included. Even though I like to intuitively read the cards, I always read the guidebook whenever I acquire a new oracle deck. It gives me a clear understanding of the creator’s intentions. Additionally, this helps me connect on a deeper level with the card’s energies.
