Cooking
Coconut oil is great substitute for vegetable oil, olive oil, or butter. There are two types of coconut oil: refined and virgin. The smoke point of Virgin Coconut Oil is 350 degrees F. which is best for sautéing and baking. The smoke point of Refined Coconut Oil is 400 degrees F. which is better for frying or cooking at high temperatures.
Moisturizer
Apply coconut oil on your body after showering or bathing for silky smooth skin. You can also use as a shaving cream.
Massage Oil
You can use coconut oil alone, but personally I think it’s better to combine with another carrier oil such as Almond Oil.
Itchy Skin/Psoriasis/Eczema
Massage warm coconut oil into affected area every couple of days.
Hair Conditioner
Coconut oil helps repair damaged hair. Simply apply 1 tsp of coconut oil to your hair, leave in for approximately 15 minutes and shampoo out.
Dandruff Treatment
Mix 1 tsp of coconut oil with 3 drops of Tea Tree Essential Oil. Massage it into your scalp, leave in approximately 5 minutes and shampoo out.
Bath Melts
Mix one cup of coconut oil with 15 – 20 drops of your favorite essential oil or essential oil blend. Freeze in a silicone mold. Drop one in your next bath!
Oil Pulling
Swish 1 tsp of coconut oil in your mouth for 5 minutes daily. (Spit oil into toilet or trash can afterwards as you don’t want to clog your sink.) Oil pulling pulls toxins out of your body. In addition, it will keep your breath fresh and aid in keeping those pearly white teeth!
Acne
Apply a small amount of coconut oil after washing your face. Initially, your complexion may get worse as toxins are expelled from the skin, but skin should improve in time.
Indigestion
For acute cases of indigestion, take 2 Tbsp. of coconut oil internally. If needed, take 1 Tbsp. again 6 hours later.
