Just like anything you use often, your crystals will need some maintenance and cleaning from time to time. In this article, you will learn how to charge and cleanse your beautiful crystals.
Why? Well, just like us, crystals don’t just send out energy vibrations, they can pick them up too!
You don’t want to overload or overburden your crystals with negative energy, so be sure to cleanse them regularly. This process doesn’t just clear away negativity, it also “recharges” them too!
It’s important that you do your own research on what type of crystal you have and which category it falls into. That way you won’t damage it. If you haven’t purchased your crystal(s) yet, or when you purchase your next crystal, ask the seller how best to clean it because some crystals are very fragile.
If you’re unsure which stone you have or where you got it from, then at the very least, I recommend avoiding liquid or abrasive cleansing
Charging Your Crystals
You can use any of the following methods to charge your crystals:
Place them in direct sunlight – Sunlight is a very powerful way to charge your crystals. Just be sure to place them far enough apart so they don’t cast a shadow on each other.
Place them under the moonlight – You can place them on a windowsill overnight, on your patio table outside or on your balcony.
Bury them in the soil – By burying your crystals in the soil overnight, it reconnects them with mother earth. If you can’t bury them outside, a potted plant will work perfectly.
How to Cleanse Your Crystals
For Non-Friable (can’t be reduced to powder easily, or by hand) and Non-Jointed (solid) crystals (pictured above), you can use the following cleansing methods:
- Hold them under running water and gently dry with a soft cloth.
- Put the crystal in salt water and gently dry with a soft cloth. Or, you can cover it with sea or rock salt and gently remove and brush away any grains.
- Waft the smoke from a smudge stick (sage) towards and around your crystal.
- Visualization- Hold each crystal in your hand as you meditate and imagine a bright white light around it while in your hand.
- For Energy Healers- You can perform your own healing/cleansing on the crystals.
For Friable (easily crushed or porous) or Cluster Type crystals (pictured below), it’s best to follow one of these cleansing methods:
- Immerse in Himalayan Sea Salt overnight or any kind of sea salt. Afterward, gently brush every single grain of salt off the crystal. This is important because salt can damage a crystal if the atmosphere gets humid or damp.
- Waft the smoke from a smudge stick towards and around your crystal.
- Visualization- Hold each crystal in your hand as you meditate and imagine a bright light around it while in your hand.
- For Energy Healers- You can also perform your own healing/cleansing on the crystals.
